***Build key leadership skills while helping SPS meet its strategic recruitment goals for SY 2025-26 by joining the Salem Public Schools Talent Finder Team!***

Background: To improve outcomes for all students, SPS must recruit and retain a diverse team of educators to our district. Priority #2 of our district strategic plan (Empower Educators) requires us to make the Salem Public Schools an inclusive district where student-centered, innovative, and highly effective educators want to work, grow, and stay. To implement this priority, the Office of Human Resources seeks three (3) educators who are passionate about the district’s goal of diversifying our workforce and seek to develop/apply the skills needed to recruit and cultivate future educators to join our team! For instance, currently 58% of our students are racially and ethnically diverse, but only 14.3% of our teachers reflect this diversity. In our strategic plan, we aim to achieve at least 20% teachers of color (and 25% of all staff) by 2026.

What You’ll Do: In the role of a Talent Finder Fellow, you will assist the HR team with key talent recruitment and support efforts such as screening candidates, assisting with job fairs and other events, assisting candidates with licensure and other questions about working in the Salem Public Schools. Working part-time (some remote and some in-person), after school hours, for approximately 5-7 hours per week, you will apply creativity and ingenuity to identify and source potential candidates, especially candidates of color, cultivating their interest in the district/position, encouraging them to apply, and maintaining ongoing communications with applicants. You will also participate and help coordinate key recruitment events (e.g., job fairs, networking events, etc.) designed to attract new talent to our district. In addition, you will help screen applicants, and assist the HR team with marketing job postings, tracking results, communications with school leaders/hiring teams, and other recruitment-related tasks.

In this role, you will receive training in anti-biased hiring practices and learn SPS’ internal recruitment strategies and systems. As a Talent Finder, you will gain key leadership skills and competencies while working closely with the HR team, the DEI Director, as well as various school leaders.
