SHS Tutoring Center Intern (Writing and/or Math), INTERNAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY

 

Job Description & Program Goal: 

The SHS Tutoring Center Intern will assist the SHS Tutoring Center coordinator. The primary goal for a Tutoring Center Intern is to gain a comprehensive understanding of site-specific activities required for successful tutoring and experience in all areas of managing a tutoring center under the supervision, guidance, and feedback of the site coordinator to improve their skills and work-based learning. This includes: providing one-on-one tutoring support to students, writing session reports, and reviewing related materials.

 

SALEM HIGH SCHOOL: 

Internship Dates: Sept 30, 2024-Jan 24, 2025 

Compensation: Stipend-TBD ( 4-8 hours per week ) 

Number of openings: 8

Supervisor- Alexandra Kirby

Location- SHS Tutoring Center (located on the 2nd floor SHS IMC)

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn and contribute to the team—Coordinate, assist, and communicate with the team to offer tutoring support to SHS students.
  • Reliable and punctual-Ability to adhere to schedule and program requirements.
  • Strong communication skills-  Maintain positive relationships with the team and any other community member 
  • Deadline oriented - Assist with site-specific tasks and completing tasks and projects as assigned. 
  • Scholarship in writing and/or math content areas and ability to guide students through the writing process and/or mathematical content. 
  • GPA of 3.0 or above preferred

 

Requirements:

  • Must be available to commit to the entire program, Sept 30, 2024-Jan 24, 2025. Interns may work up to 8 hours per week.  
  • Interns must complete all required paperwork for Salem Public Schools before the start of the internship.
