Salem High School is committed to ongoing transformation of the student and staff experiences.  The Student Support Design Committee will lead the work of defining and designing the multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) and the student support team (SST) process for 2020-2021.  In addition, the committee will contribute to piloting new 19-20 SST collaboration processes and protocols at grades 9-10 and 11-12.  The committee will also regularly review and respond to the early warning indicators of attendance, behavior and course grades.

 

 The committee is accountable for growth towards the measurable annual goals of the Turnaround Plan, especially benchmarks for practice #3 (student specific supports and instruction to all students) and measurable annual goals for attendance and behavior found in practice #4.  If you are interested in leading and contributing to the ongoing redesign efforts at Salem High School, this opportunity may be of interest to you.

Up to 6 Salem High School teachers or staff members who are committed to building out comprehensive systems of support. 

What

The Student Support Design Committee will be one of three working teams within the greater redesign work at SHS.  Like all other teams, it will consist of staff, students, family / community members and a central office team liaison.  Student advisory design interns will collaborate with this team on an ongoing basis to integrate the student perspective.  It will be facilitated by a SHS administrator, staff leader and a student leader.

When

Meetings will be held from 2:30-4:00 p.m. on the following Mondays:

9/23, 10/7, 10/21, 11/4, 11/18, 12/2, 1/13, 1/27,  2/10, 2/24, 3/16, 3/30, 4/6

How

If you are interested, complete the application by September 11, 2019.  Fifteen-minute interviews will be conducted at SHS prior to the close of school on September 16, 2019.   (Note:  the same application may be used to express interest in any of the three redesign committees - Discovery Pathways, Student Support Design or Culture.)

?        You will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from academic departments and student service providers to create an integrated approach.

?        In addition to leading the work, committee members will also have the opportunity to be learners through texts, model exploration, peer discussions and site visits. 

Deliverables

?        Regular participation in Monday committee work

?        Completion of committee tasks

Stipend

$1500.  Stipend will be paid upon completion and submission of deliverables in $500 installments at the end of November, February and April.
