The ELL Department seeks teacher leaders with experience teaching and serving English Learners at each of the Salem Public Schools to serve as a Language Acquisition Team (LAT) Facilitator. All schools are required by LOOK Bill legislation to create a formal Language Acquisition Team (LAT) that meets a minimum of one time per month. This team will play a crucial role in the implementation of LOOK Bill regulations through the monitoring and reclassification of EL students.
The LAT Team will meet and deeply analzye individual EL students who are not making progress in language acquisition as measured by the ACCESS exam. Team members will evaluate the whole student and create EL Success Plans that strategically implement interventions and supports based on student’s strengths and areas of growth.
A teacher leader, with experience and interest in English Learners, will facilitate the meetings and receive training as the Language Acquisition Team Facilitator (LATF).
Language Acquisition Team Facilitators must attend and participate in 3-4 after-school trainings on LOOK Bill legislation, Ellevation Meetings platform, and meeting facilitation.
