Designing an Impactful High School Experience
The 9th Grade SST Working Team will develop and pilot a new SST structure that leverages existing as well as new resources to facilitate regular and structured conversations focused on meeting student needs.
We’re looking for SHS 9th grade staff who are passionate about rethinking how we can best meet the needs of our students.
Who: Salem High School 9th grade teachers and 9th grade support staff who are interested in being a part of reimagining how we can, as a team, best meet the needs of our students.
What: This work team will consist of approximately six staff members who will focus on developing a process and protocol to facilitate structured conversations with the goal of being proactive in deploying appropriate supports for students. Lessons learned from this pilot will inform the composition of a school-wide SST structure.
When: Team members must be willing to contribute at least 10 hours to the development of the SST process and protocol: 3 in a team meeting prior to the commencement of the school year and 7 through independent contributions and/or subsequent meetings. Attendance to the team meeting is expected. The team meeting will be at Salem High School. Date will be agreed upon by Scott Tombleson and the team once members are selected.
How: By August 9th, 2019, complete the application and you will be scheduled for a short phone interview.
Why: A foundational element of the District’s Instructional goals of “Creating Welcoming Environments” and “Facilitating Meaningful Interactions” is creating an effectively structured process and procedure for teachers and staff to have conversations about how best to support students. This process will be used as a model for the implementation of a new SST structure throughout the school to better meet the needs of all of our students.
Deliverables:
SST Meeting schedule, structure and protocol.
Ongoing revisions throughout the year should adjustments be required.
Stipend $450. Stipend payable upon completion and submission of deliverables to Scott Tombleson.
