School Bus Monitor
5 hours per day/5 days a week Pay Rate: $14.67 per hour Application Due Date: Open Until Filled Position Start Date: ASAP
Summary
Assist the School Bus Driver in the daily monitoring of student travel to and from school in a safe manner and in accordance with the Transportation Department and the Salem Public Schools policies.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for reviewing Students’ Transportation Plans
- Assists students entering and exiting school bus safely
- Communicates pick-up and drop-off times to parents
- Monitors health and safety with students with medical issues
- Secures young or physically challenged students’ seat-belts and wheelchairs
- Communicates with parents and school staff in a professional and courteous manner
- Maintains discipline of students on the school bus (i.e keeps students from leaning out windows, staying in the seat, respecting other riders, and using appropriate language)
- Ability to write incident reports and correspondence as necessary
- Must be familiar with the route to aid in event of substitute driver
- Perform other related tasks as assume other related responsibilities as may be assigned by the Transportation Office
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/equivalent
- First preference will be given to individuals willing to become a CDL License school bus driver
- Should be willing to drive as needed
- Current authorization to work in the United States
