What You’ll Do:
The Tutoring Center at SHS supports students’ academic development and performance. You will manage this space when you are on shift, which includes a space for peer tutoring services and for Early College students to study. Additionally, you will facilitate communication and reporting across student support services and mentor peer tutors.
Job Duties may include the following:
- Collaborate with SHS Library, Salem State University, IT department, and Early College coordinator to ensure communication flow and meaningful student support.
- Oversee center, including physical space, scheduling, and staffing.
- Communicate with students, staff, and families about student support.
- Tutor individual or small groups of students.
- Empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.
Role Responsibilities:
Working with the Early College coordinator, Early College student supports, building principal and Salem State University tutoring teams:
- Tutoring
- Work with students individually or in small groups on assignments.
- Offer solutions when challenges arise with assignments to empower tutees to complete assignments with greater independence.
- Differentiate tutoring based on students’ learning styles and assignment demands, implementing a universal design for learning.
- Tutoring Support Center Facilitator
- Create an environment for students to access peer and teacher tutoring.
- Communicate to staff which students accessed the support center.
- Verify completed tutoring reports and manage online tutoring platform.
- Hire and schedule tutors.
- Mentor peer tutors.
- Early College Support
- Support Early College Coordinator with scheduling and communicating student appointments.
- Provide a space and access to support for college courses.
Hours Expected for the Position
- Flexible hours during the tutoring center day (7:30-3:30)

Job Requirements:
- Background knowledge of tutoring pedagogy and Early College programming preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Bilingual preferred
- Working with a diverse urban population
- Experience working with high school students
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with multiple partners
- Citizenship, residency or work VISA in the United States required
Pay: Hourly basis range from $20-25.
