What You’ll Do:
As a teacher for adult English Learner students, you will prepare students to develop greater proficiency in the English language in ways that are both academic and practical for students. Courses will be held on two evenings per week starting in January 2025 and ending in June of 2025. You will collaborate with the other adult ELD teacher(s) to design and implement units of instruction, and to assess student learning as aligned with the WIDA 2020 English Learner Proficiency Standards.
Role Responsibilities:
- Teaching and Learning
- Create units of instruction that empower families to deepen their proficiency of the English Language in the domains of reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
- Plan engaging and challenging lessons and assignments that lead to the effective use of all four domains of language within an authentic context.
- Deliver lessons to adult English learners twice a week in-person at the Salem Public Schools, utilizing strategies for engaging adult learners.
- Collaborate with teachers to design, teach, and assess learning that incorporates project-based learning, information literacies in different formats, critical thinking and self-assessment.
- Collect student attendance and feedback, and report student needs to the Director of Multilingual Learner Education.
- Additional duties as assigned.
